All proceeds of this event will go to The Mother Africa Trust which was created as a way for people to “give back” to both the environment and to the people of Zimbabwe. We want to help! We created “purpose-driven safaris” tailor-made for skilled and unskilled people, professionals in any discipline, who wish to donate their time and skills to leave a lasting and tangible impression on Zimbabwe.

From building new or upgraded infrastructure or changing a life, through to funding education. The idea is to make sure each side in the partnership benefits, sharing knowledge, experience and skills with a tangible and lasting outcome. We source funds and equipment for development and conservation projects. We endeavor to act as a “connector,” helping people who can help eachother get in touch. The Trust, as it is run, aims to bring mutual acceptance of one’s culture, beliefs and the lives they lead.

Sunday 2nd October at 6am.

Pre registration at Whitestone School on 24th Sept and Busters on 1st Oct between 10am-12noon.

See you there!

This classically striking camp, not only enviro-friendly but naturally and historically beautiful, has embraced a new look with stunning fabrics all procured in this Southern African region. Depicting strong sculptural, as well as architectural design, these fabrics embody the excitement of our beautiful Continent. Rich, vibrant, muted, with touches of acid and harmonious with our nature, you cannot but be awe inspired after the breath taking views of the place that Cecil Rhodes called … “Worlds View”. Day or night, Camp Amalinda reflects the beauty that is Africa, that is Zimbabwe and that is to be one with nature…

Creatively brought to you by Johannesburg based Interior Designer Bruce Ehlers, the already stunning Camp Amalinda will be transformed over the next few months into a distinction of the African experience. Bruce, being a born Zimbabwean and having a love of the African bush, has conveyed the design scope within this vibrant continent and transported it to the Matopos.

We understand there are reports in your newspapers and warnings put out by your Governments which depict a grim political situation within Zimbabwe. We believe too, that this may concern you, possibly impact on your decision to either travel to our country or rather to our neighbours Zambia / Botswana / South Africa. Although we will not deny that Zim has experienced some rough times, the people of Zimbabwe need you.

They will give you the warmest, friendliest welcome – Zimbabweans are probably the most gracious, hospitable Nation you will ever encounter. We are asking you not to turn your back on this beautiful Country, the people of Zimbabwe need you now, more than ever.

We have gathered these facts from our own experiences of living here, and from where we stand right now, it is business as usual. You will not be left stranded on the road side because of no fuel, or go without any of the provisions that you would normally find at any other lodge of our caliber. You will not be subjected to bad treatment by Police or Customs/Immigration Officials etc. Fuel supplies are everywhere and you will not see closed fuel stations as it was in 2009. Grocery shops are full to bursting with fresh and imported produce and ATM’s are available to draw US$ in cash.

You will be with a member of our company at all times, someone who knows the laws, limitations/restrictions of our country and who is geared up to best advise how to handle certain circumstances. And this you will find with almost all safari companies and organizations who have a reputable track record.

We have made a commitment to ensuring a high standard of service and if, at any time, we are unable to follow through with this promise, or, should the current situation change, we will advise you accordingly.

Please feel free to contact me should you have any further questions on sharon@amalindacollection.co.zw

An awesome travel show called Going Nowhere Slowly, will be featuring the wonders of Zimbabwe in their next season. Basically, they drive around in a splendid Chevrolet Impala known as the Chili Pepper .

Various adventures and mishaps are encountered along the way such as being detained and questioned for hours at our friendly police station in Mutare or driving around Bulawayo in search of a reliable tyre repair company. Such things are taken in stride and discussed with gentle humour during the show and in biting terms off camera…

Passing through Bulawayo, they stayed at Camp Amalinda for a night. Paul Hubbard, our in-house archaeologist, guided the presenters through the ever amazing sights of the Matobo Hills covering everything from Cecil Rhodes to the geology.

Then onto Ivory Lodge in Hwange where some of the big 5 presented themselves to the group at sunset.
Look out for the show, broadcasting on SABC3 in Jan 09.
