Camp Amalinda - A Wilderness of Granite

An African inspired refuge, where world-class facilities combine both the cultural and spiritual energy, allure and unique beauty, for which the Matobo Hills is reknowned and celebrated.

This exclusive, privately owned safari lodge is located in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Matobo Hills, the oldest National Park in Zimbabwe which was first established in 1926 as a bequest by Cecil John Rhodes. Tucked away into an ancient Bushman’s shelter, Camp Amalinda has won the AZTA Award for "Best Non-Tented Establishment in Zimbabwe" for the last two consecutive years and was voted in the top 3 Safari Lodges in Zimbabwe for 2010 and 2013.

The granite domes and castle kopje's echo the essence of tranquility and the majesty of untamed Africa, where wildlife and birdlife species thrive in prolific numbers. The area is famous for it's high concentrations of Leopard and Black Eagle, as well as for it's healthy population of the endangered Black and White Rhino making the area one of the most sought after destinations within Zimbabwe.

About Camp Amalinda

The granite domes and castle kopjes of the Matobo Hills, Zimbabwe, are among the most spectacular rock sceneries in the world. Nestled in this unique range of hills is Camp Amalinda.
Camp Amalinda consists of nine individually thatched rooms including a trio of suites, ideal for honeymooners, all of which are set in amidst the boulders. The three honeymoon suites have recently been refurbished and named in accordance with historic figures from the area. Their names are: “The Lobengula Suite”, “The Rhodes Suite” and “The San Suite”, and each are steeped in African historical artefacts of a bygone era. It is here amidst the rock formations that the hopes, trials and tribulations of the San Bushmen are recorded in the ancient rock art.
We look forward to sharing our passion for these amazing hills with you.
